WHY WAS THIS BOOK SO GOOOOOOD?????
Rebel Magisters (Rebel Mechanics #2)
by Shanna Swendson
Tea, Love … and Revolution!
The Rebel Mechanics aren’t the only group plotting revolution against the magical British Empire. There are rebel magisters, as well, and Verity Newton and her magister employer, Lord Henry, know that the only way for the revolution to succeed is if both groups work together. A diplomatic mission seems like the perfect opportunity for them to meet with rebels in other colonies and gather support—right under the governor’s nose.
From drawing rooms, ballrooms, and the harbor in Boston to the streets of Charleston, Verity and Henry find themselves up against stubborn factions of both magisters and Mechanics and increasingly aware that they can only really count on each other as their relationship deepens. It may take a real crisis to unite the rebel movements and rally them to the cause—but could such a crisis also tear them apart?
Upon finishing Rebel Mechanics I knew immediately I needed Rebel Magisters. Rebel Mechanics blew me away with how fun, smart, swoon worthy, and entertaining it was. I devoured it.*For my full review for Rebel Mechanics, click here.

Rebel Magisters picks up with Verity now trying to maneuver what her involvement with the Mechanics is. She felt betrayed but still upholds the cause and wants to do whatever she can to see revolution.
Sometimes you get to a second book in a series and it lets you down, either from a weak story or characters who don’t develop how you’d like to see them, but for me, Rebel Magisters is EXACTLY what we all hope for in a sequel. It was equally fun, smart, adventurous, touching as the first book.
I was engrossed in the story immediately from page 1!
Verity: I love Verity! When I come across a lead character who is so SMART it really stands out to me. Elisa from The Girl of Fire and Thorns is another heroine who also could plan, plot and execute what needed to be done in such a great way. I love Verity! I love her character growth from being able to see the injustice to being able to take risks even with her life to help others.
Henry: SWOON! I’ll just leave it at that 😉
Just like in Rebel Mechanics, I can’t seem to find anything that bothered me about Rebel Magisters. It’s so rare for me to walk away from a book with no complaints whatsoever. I loved every bit of it.
If you read Rebel Mechanics (if you haven’t, DO IT) then you know how fantastic this steampunk book is. It’s so much more than cool gadgets, it’s fun and full of extremely likeable characters! This series is a must read and I can not wait for book three! I gave Rebel Magisters 5 stars!
