Welcome to my guest post feature, Rec It Reads! I am thrilled to host a new blogger/bookstagrammer/booktuber each week! This feature will run every Thursday. If you’re interested in participating, sign up below.
Now let’s get to the recommending! If I could send you each a box full of every single one of my favorite books, I would do it! Unfortunately, ain’t nobody got the time, space, or money for that unless you are literally a federally funded library (and even they have some space limitations). Instead…*cue dramatic music**dramatic movie trailer voiceover man voice*…one book…must rise…to defeat them all! And I get to be the judge of which book that is which, let me tell ya, is not as easy as it sounds! Do I go with a childhood favorite? An eye opening tale?? A literary classic that is the epitome of written art??? WHAT DO I DO???!!! And then, inspiration struck me as fast, accurate, and precise as an acorn falling from a tree and knocking you on the head (seriously–why do all acorns seem to have it out for me specifically???)!
Let’s say you’re in a pesky little reading slump. You’re bored. You want a book, but literally nothing is catching your interest. You look longingly at your bookshelves, wistfully remembering the days when you could just pluck a book from their ranks and open it and begin to read with ease and comfort.
You need something unique. You need something gripping. Something with a dash of adventure here, a hint of romance there, and a heck of a lot of story everywhere.
You, my friend, need Wolf by Wolf by Ryan Graudin.
“What is this great reading slump curing book you speak of, Lila???” you are wondering. Well, friends, let me tell you. It’s only the best book I read in 2015. You want a great story? It’s got it! You want incredible, lyrical writing? It’s got it! You was just a hint of romance, but nothing overwhelming? You want adventure? You want something like you’ve never read before? You best believe Wolf by Wolf‘s got it!
“What’s it about?” you ask. It’s an alternate history thriller-adventure with a slight fantastical element. In the world of Wolf by Wolf, Hitler and the Nazis won World War II. Don’t worry, though, because the resistance is alive and plotting! Yael is a teen girl in the employ of the resistance who can change her appearance to look like any person, alive or dead. Each year, Hitler holds a motorcyle race and the winner gets to meet with Hitler himself. Only one girl, Adele Wolf, has entered and won the race. In a daring mission, Yael must kidnap Adele, shapeshift to look like her, enter and win the motorcycle race, and meet with and kill Hitler. Sounds thrilling, doesn’t? OF COURSE IT DOES!
Now, fly to the books, my lovely little bibliophiles! And pick up Wolf by Wolf by Ryan Graudin today!

About the Book
Her story begins on a train.
The year is 1956, and the Axis powers of the Third Reich and Imperial Japan rule. To commemorate their Great Victory, Hitler and Emperor Hirohito host the Axis Tour: an annual motorcycle race across their conjoined continents. The victor is awarded an audience with the highly reclusive Adolf Hitler at the Victor’s Ball in Tokyo.
Yael, a former death camp prisoner, has witnessed too much suffering, and the five wolves tattooed on her arm are a constant reminder of the loved ones she lost. The resistance has given Yael one goal: Win the race and kill Hitler. A survivor of painful human experimentation, Yael has the power to skinshift and must complete her mission by impersonating last year’s only female racer, Adele Wolfe. This deception becomes more difficult when Felix, Adele twin’s brother, and Luka, her former love interest, enter the race and watch Yael’s every move.
But as Yael grows closer to the other competitors, can she bring herself to be as ruthless as she needs to be to avoid discovery and complete her mission?
From the author of The Walled City comes a fast-paced and innovative novel that will leave you breathless.
