Rec it Reads

Welcome to my new guest post feature, Rec It Reads! I am thrilled to host a new blogger/bookstagrammer/booktuber each week! This feature will run every Thursday. If you’re interested in participating, sign up below.

This week: Ava from Bookishness and Tea!

avaHi guys! I’m so excited to be on Sarah’s blog. I have so many books I considered recommending for this post, but then I realized: A lot of the books I love are very popular. You’ve probably heard of them! So instead, I chose to recommend a less hyped book.

The book I’ve chosen is…

*drumroll*

The Abyss Surrounds Us by Emily Skrutskie!

I read this book at the beginning of this year, and fell in love with it. It has all of my favorite things:

Sea monsters! A brilliant f/f relationship! A fast paced story! A beautiful cover! Amazing characters! Pirates!

I mean, what more do you want?

I adored this book and don’t talk about it enough, so I hope this convinces you to go out and purchase it. It is WORTH IT. Plus, it’s not very long, so you can finish it so quickly!

Have you read The Abyss Surrounds Us yet? What did you think? If not, do you plan on it now?

About the Book

The Abyss Surrounds Us (The Abyss Surrounds Us #1) by Emily Skrutskie

For Cassandra Leung, bossing around sea monsters is just the family business. She’s been a Reckoner trainer-in-training ever since she could walk, raising the genetically-engineered beasts to defend ships as they cross the pirate-infested NeoPacific. But when the pirate queen Santa Elena swoops in on Cas’s first solo mission and snatches her from the bloodstained decks, Cas’s dream of being a full-time trainer seems dead in the water.

There’s no time to mourn. Waiting for her on the pirate ship is an unhatched Reckoner pup. Santa Elena wants to take back the seas with a monster of her own, and she needs a proper trainer to do it. She orders Cas to raise the pup, make sure he imprints on her ship, and, when the time comes, teach him to fight for the pirates. If Cas fails, her blood will be the next to paint the sea.

But Cas has fought pirates her entire life. And she’s not about to stop.

I really want to read THE ABYSS SURROUNDS US. I met Emily at ALAMW, and she’s seriously so cool! And really tall. xD I have her book, and it sounds epic. I can’t wait to start. Nice post!

Haha yeah, it’s nothing too exciting. I’ve heard it’s good. The book actually is pretty short I saw it in the bookstore once and was surprised by that.
