HYPE: It can be GOOD, it can be BAD, and boy…it can be UGLY!
So, you just finished the MOST AMAZING BOOK AND YOU WANT EVERYONE TO READ IT! We’ve all been there. I’ve been there many many many times. It’s such a great feeling. As readers, we hope and pray that every book we start reading will be the next “one.” That special book that we fall head over heels in love with. Sometimes it happens and sometimes it doesn’t. BUT, when it does happen…the stars align, the heavens have opened, and we are EXCITED! Right?
I love this feeling. I think we all do and we desperately want others to experience the perfection of whatever book we just read.
So…we fangirl/fanboy all over the place. Our friends, Twitter, Facebook (well, sometimes…who uses Facebook?), Tumblr, Pinterest, you name it and we SHOUT IT FROM THE ROOF TOPS!
WHY IT CAN BE GOOD
- It’s how you find books.
Let’s be real for a minute…a lot of our favorite books were found because they were recommended to us from somewhere (This isn’t always the case, random book love absolutely happens. Three years ago, I wasn’t part of the blogging community and never had recs). But, if you’re reading this post, you’re most likely part of the blogging community and get recommendations constantly from places like Twitter, Goodreads, Instagram, etc.
If it wasn’t for social media and hype I would have never heard of many of my favorite books. *cough cough* Illuminae, The Orphan Queen and Scarlet (A.C. Gaughen).
- Supporting Authors
Just imagine you spend years writing a book and then bloggers, magazines, whatever it is, decides they LOVE your book and promote promote promote! What a dream come true. We all love authors and want to support them anyway we can. Many of them are incredibly sweet and it’s fun to help them by recommending our favorite books to others. [Read more…]
