What’s with the title, Sarah???
I was doing some research on Alucard for this post and apparently this is a legitimate question people have been asking online “Is Alucard a vampire?”
Why are people asking this? Take a look at this tweet below.
YOU GUYS ALUCARD EMERY IS NOT A VAMPIRE. I DIDN'T REALIZE HIS NAME WAS DRACULA SPELLED BACKWARDS I JUST LIKED IT.

Today is my second and last stop on this tour! My first post was on KELL….ALWAYS THE OUTSIDER. Check it out! But today is all about Alucard Emery *side grin forever*.
I LOVED ALUCARD! He was a fantastic addition to the set of characters in A Gathering of Shadows.
Who is Alucard?
Victoria described Alucard in a Tweet as…”Alucard Emery, witty, mysterious, eyebrow-pierced captain of the Night Spire.” source
So basically a sexy pirate.
Alucard is smart, chill, sexy captain of the privateering ship, the Night Spire. Lila becomes part of his crew and he helps Lila learn the Arnesian language and to harness her elemental magic. The two have an interesting friendship anyone would be jealous of, full of snark and banter.
“What are you supposed to be?” she asked in Arnesian. “A fish?”
Alucard made a noise of mock affront. “Obviously,” he said, brandishing the helmet, “I’m a dragon.”
“Wouldn’t it make more sense for you to be a fish?” challenged Lila. “After all, you do live on the sea, and you are rather slippery, and—”
“I’m a dragon,” he interjected. “You’re just not being very imaginative.”
― Victoria Schwab,
After many years gone, Alucard heads back to London to compete in a magical tournament the Essen Tasch. He competes with the magical element of water.
Alucard was in a previous relationship with Rhy the Prince of Red London before he headed to the seas. Needless to say this spices things up but also causes a rift with Kell. Kell does NOT like Alucard at all and you’ll see why in A Gathering of Shadows.
“Alucard snaked an arm possessively around his shoulders and brought his lips to the prince’s neck, just below his ear. Rhy actually shivered.
“You are far too familiar with your prince,” he warned.
“So you confess it, then?” His brushed his lips against Rhy’s throat. “That you are mine.”
